📚 What can a thousand-year-old story teach us about life today? Quite a lot!

A big thank-you to English IV Teacher Dr. Gayle Lamb at Community High School for inviting our Director of Communications Carol Garrette to spend time with seniors exploring Beowulf, the legendary Anglo-Saxon epic!

Together, students dug into the timeless questions at the heart of this classic: What makes someone a hero? What does courage look like when the stakes are high? How do we face fear, fight for what matters and understand even the perspectives of those we consider our enemies?

From Beowulf’s battles to Grendel’s point of view, students discovered that great literature is about so much more than the past. It challenges us to think deeply about human nature, leadership, good and evil, the choices we make today and the legacy we leave behind.

That’s the power of reading! Even a story written more than a thousand years ago can help us better understand ourselves and the world around us.

We love seeing our teachers create opportunities for students to make meaningful connections between what they read and the lives they lead! 📖

⚖️ From the Classroom to the Grand Jury! 🔎

Students in Mr. Chris Hobb’s Criminal Justice III class at Community High School recently put their investigative skills to the test by presenting criminal indictments to the Grand Jury.

🔍Each #student was assigned a criminal case to investigate independently. After gathering sufficient evidence, #students presented their cases to the Grand Jury, seeking a true bill of indictment based on probable cause.

📚This hands-on experience allowed students to apply their criminal justice knowledge, strengthen their investigative skills and experience a real-world step in the legal process. 👏
